Man sentenced after attempting to snatch toddler from pram

A man has been sentenced for attempting to snatch a toddler from a pram in Basingstoke.

It happened in Eastrop Park on 4 February 2021 when the mother was out with her daughter.

Mohamed Jarboui, 52, had started talking to her before he then tried to take the child out of the pram.

The girl's mother had to hit him to get him to let go of the child.

Jarboui admitted one count of attempting to take a child from a person of lawful control.

He was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court to 10 months in prison, but has already served his time in custody and on bail.
