Portland Coastguard have said there is no hope that two fishermen missing off the Dorset coast will be found alive. The wreck of the Purbeck Isle was found on Saturday with its life-raft still on board. Searches for crew members Robert Prowse and Jack Craig were later called off.

Messages of support have been left for the crew of the Purbeck Isle today at the quayside in Weymouth. The wreck of the boat was discovered 10 miles off the coast of Portland yesterday. The body of its skipper has been found. The search for two missing crew mates was called off yesterday.

A minute's silence has been observed at a church in Weymouth today for the crew of the fishing boat Purbeck Isle - found sunk off the coast of Dorset. The body of the skipper David McFarlane was discovered on Friday. The search for the remaining two crew members was called off yesterday.

The search for two missing fishermen has been called off after their stricken vessel and lifeboat were found on the seabed. The body of the third crew member of the Purbeck Isle has been discovered off the coast of Dorset. He's been named as skipper David McFarlane. Robert Murphy reports.

Fishermen tried to find missing friends

Fellow fishermen tried calling the mobile phones of the three men whose boat, The Purbeck Isle, had gone missing.

Andy Alcock, secretary of the Weymouth and Portland Fisherman and Licensed Boatman Association, said: "The lads had tried to phone the vessel and got just cut-off lines. All three mobile phones just cut off."

He said: "As the evening panned out into darkness it got more and more serious. It then became an all-night vigil to try and find the vessel."
