Two East Grinstead men, aged 19 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle offences and going equipped to steal. After being interviewed were released on police bail until 20 February while enquiries continue.
A hit-and-run driver who left four schoolchildren lying injured after he mounted a pavement and careered into them is being hunted by police.
The crash happened after the dark grey BMW 3 series left Imberhorne Lane, East Grinstead, on Friday at around 10.30am.
The car struck a lamp-post before colliding with the group of three teenage girls and a boy and then ploughing into a hedge, Sussex Police said.
As the children lay injured on the ground, the BMW made off, and was found abandoned nearby.
Two men were seen to walk from the car, prompting police to appeal for help in finding them.
The children suffered cuts and bruises. Three were taken to the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, Surrey, for treatment and observation.
