The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited Yalding in Kent today to meet local people who were flooded over Christmas.

Royal visit to flood-hit Kent

His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall, visited Kent today, to meet residents of the south-east's most flooded village. They were given a warm welcome by a small crowd of well-wishers.

David Johns was there and spoke to restaurateur Kajol Miah, Rev Paul Filmer from Yalding church, Yalding Parish Council chairman Geraldine Brown and local resident Joseph Wilson.


Charles and Camilla to meet Kent flood victims

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting Yalding in Kent today, to meet those who were flooded over the Christmas period.

They will hear from residents and businesses owners who had to leave their homes and whose businesses are now undergoing refurbishment.

The couple will meet the owners of Orchard View Classic Garage who specialise in restoring classic cars, some of which were flooded and are now being dried out through a specialist process.

They will also speak to a beekeeper who had 16 of his hives swept away and the owners of Teapot Island whose museum houses over 6000 teapots.
