News just in that 92-year-old Myrtle Cothill won't be deported to South Africa on Tuesday.
Myrtle has been given a 'stay of execution' while more evidence is considered. The Home Office have cancelled a removal direction, due to be enforced. A medical assessment was carried out this afternoon. Her family are delighted, and are waiting on news of the Home Office's next move.
The frail widow was due to be deported from Poole despite claims that she has no close family in South Africa. Myrtle has heart problems, poor eyesight and cannot walk unaided. She arrived in Britain on a tourist visa so that she could be cared for by her daughter.
