A murder investigation has been launched after a businessman was shot during a botched burglary at his £1 million home. Guy Hedger, 61, was gunned down at his house in the East Dorset village of St Ives.

Murder hunt continues

The hunt continues tonight for two intruders who shot a man in his own home during a burglary on the Hampshire Dorset border. Emergency services were called to a property in Castlewood at St Ives near Ringwood in the early hours of yesterday morning. Guy Hedger was taken to hospital but died from his injuries. Police say they believe the burglary was pre-planned as Richard Jones reports.

Police this afternoon said the murder of a man shot dead by intruders was pre-planned. They said they were looking for at least two offenders who broke into the home wearing balaclavas and in possession of a shotgun. Jewellery including designer watches were taken from the house. Colleagues have spoken of their shock and sadness at the death of 61 year old Guy Hedger, who was shot dead by intruders at his home in East Dorset.

His employers, LV= Insurance have released a statement:

“We were all shocked to hear that our friend and colleague Guy Hedger, LV=’s Marketing & Brand Director, died over the weekend in such tragic circumstances.

An extremely talented marketer, Guy was instrumental in building the LV= brand and he will be sorely missed by many.

Our heartfelt condolences and sympathy are with his family and loved ones at this incredibly sad time.”
