First World War Centenary: 1918-2018

It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history and the losses are staggering. The Great War killed more than 16 million people - those who fought, and those caught up in the fighting. The figure for the number of wounded is even higher.

In November 1918, after four long years, the Armistice was signed and the guns fell silent. We will be marking the centenary with a series of reports, hearing from people who cherish the memory of relatives who fought in or lived through the war.
