Plans for waste plant between Winchester and Basingstoke rejected

Plans for a waste treatment plant between Winchester and Basingstoke have been rejected. It's a huge victory for local villagers who had been campaigning against the development at Micheldever Station.

Following a recommendation from the Head of County Planning, HCC's Regulatory Committee refused permission for Clean Power Properties Ltd to build a Pyrolysis Advanced Conversion Technology Plant.

They also refused permission for an Aerobic Digestion Plant on a greenfield site overlooking the main London-Southampton railway line north of Micheldever Station.

This is terrific news. The County's decision reflects not only our many objections and concerns, but also those of more than 400 local residents. Clean Power's application was riddled with misinformation and unsubstantiated claims of how the plant would benefit not just the local community but Hampshire too. If built, it would have been a huge blight on the open downland around Micheldever Station, causing smells, constant heavy traffic and endless disruption."
