Man hit by multiple vehicles on A303 at Popham named

Police have revealed the name of a man who died after a collision on the A303 at Popham near Micheldever last month. He was 27-year-old Lee Jones who was originally from Northamptonshire, but had recently been living in Basingstoke.

Hampshire Police believe Lee was stuck by a number of vehicles while walking along the road at about 12.30am on Saturday 23rd May. The investigation is ongoing.

Lee's family paid a tribute to him:

“Lee was a much loved son and brother who will be truly missed.”

Pedestrian killed on busy road

Police are appealing for information after a fatal road traffic collision on the A303 eastbound near Popham services.

It happened at around 12.30am on Saturday, May 23.

A pedestrian is believed to have been struck by multiple vehicles. The man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are in the process of notifying next of kin to allow for formal identification procedures to take place.

We are appealing to anyone who was travelling eastbound on the A303 near Popham services around the time of the incident. We need to establish the exact circumstances and identify any further vehicles involved. One driver has come forward. We have spoken with several drivers at the scene, but we know there are still vehicles unaccounted for.
