Highways England has been threatened with legal action over the continued use of smart motorways.

A group of MPs is to investigate the safety surrounding smart motorways, of which there are several in the South.

The number of Highways England traffic officers patrolling the South East’s motorways has fallen by almost a third in five years, ITV Meridian can reveal.
