£76m roadworks start on A23

£76m worth of roadworks start today on one of the worst bottlenecks in the South East. 70,000 cars a day use the A23 at Handcross Hill in West Sussex. It is being widened to three lanes in each direction. It'll take two years to complete.

Roadworks costing £76m start today on the A23 in West Sussex between Handcross and Warninglid.

The dual carriageway just south of Gatwick Airport and on the main road between London and Brighton will be widened to three lanes in each direction.

The work will take two years to complete.
