Prison sentence for killer driver

A man's been given a suspended prison sentence after a woman was killed in a collision on the M2. It happened at junction 2 last February. A woman got out of her car after colliding with the central reservation and was hit by another car.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the Mondeo was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with minor injuries.

Thomas Molloy, 22, of Norah Lane, Higham, Rochester, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving.

He was sentenced at Dartford and Gravesham Magistrates’ Court on 26 October to 60 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, and disqualified from driving for two years. Molloy was also given a four month curfew to remain at home between 8pm and 8am daily.

He must also pay £85 costs. PC Jamie Woodhams, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: `I’d like to thank everyone who came forward with information. We followed all lines of enquiries which helped with the investigation into this fatal incident.
