Thames Valley Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body has been found in a property in Headington in Oxford. Officers were called to the The Link after receiving reports of 'a fear for welfare'.
The woman, who's not been formally identified, was in her 80s. A post mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow. A 58-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
“We are still in the very early stages of this investigation and at the moment, we are following a number of lines of enquiry.
“Although a man has been arrested, this is still very much being treated as an unexplained death investigation and we are unlikely to know more until the results of the post mortem tomorrow.
“Officers are out in Headington talking to local residents and offering reassurance today and I urge anyone with information on this incident to please get in touch.”
