Thousands taken in post office armed robbery

Police are hunting for two men who stole thousands of pounds during an armed robbery at a Sussex post office. It happened just after 10am yesterday at North Street, Lower Horsebridge, near Hailsham.

A member of staff, a man in his sixties, sustained arm and shoulder bruising as he tried to prevent one of the men getting through the counter door, but did not require hospital treatment. There were no customers in the store at the time.

The two robbers fled in a maroon older style Ford Escort, which drove away northward in the direction of the A267 and Heathfield. It was found abandoned in Hellingly shortly afterwards. Witnesses should call Sussex Police on 101 or email quoting Operation Fountain.
