Family call for compulsory carbon monoxide alarms

An epetition has been set up to raise awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide Credit: epetition

A family from Wokingham are calling for the Government to make carbon monoxide alarms compulsory in homes.

Katie Haines, aged 31, from Wokingham, tragically drowned in the bath in her home after inhaling carbon monoxide from a leaking boiler in 2010.

Her family have set up an online petition to make it a legal requirement to have carbon monoxide alarms fitted with carbon burning appliances.

The petition has just over 1000 signatures but needs 100,000 in order for the issue to be discovered in the House of Commons.
