Pink bike clue to late night attack

Detectives investigating an assault in Sholing are releasing an E-Fit image of a man they would like to speak to, and are renewing their appeal to find the owner of a pink bike.

A 56-year-old man was treated in hospital after being assaulted on his way home from a party on Sunday, November 2. He is now back at home recovering.

The incident occurred between 1am and 1.15am at the junction of Knighton Road and Wodehouse Road in the Sholing area of the city.

The man Police would like to speak to following this assault is described as:

• Mixed race.

• Aged in his early twenties.

• Just over 6ft tall.

• He had curly dark hair.

• He was wearing an army green or black coloured jacket and possibly a grey jumper underneath.

• He spoke with an accent, possibly Indian.

Detective Constable Claire Ratcliffe from Southampton CID said: 'I would like to hear from anyone who recognises this man or who knows who the owner of this pink bike is. We believe the bike was discarded close to the scene of the assault and the owner may be able to assist us with our investigation.

'I’d also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the bike in the area where the assault took place.'
