A drone camera is being used to form part of Henley Regatta's live coverage for the first time.

It's a first in the sporting event's 176 year history.

Whilst the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in sports filming is not new, recent developments in technology have allowed live pictures to be incorporated into an outside broadcast.

We’ve been fortunate that the first Regatta broadcast for more than three decades has coincided with the deployment of lightweight camera drones in live sports coverage becoming a reality.

Rowing is traditionally televised from the side or behind the race. So to be able to offer a completely dynamic aerial picture to viewers
