Police charge man over indecent offences against children

Detectives from Hampshire Constabulary's Operation Marmion investigations into non-recent cases of child sexual exploitation and abuse have charged a man to appear in court over indecent offences against children.

Colin Dennis Davis, aged 74, from Lingfield Gardens, Southampton, answered police bail on Thursday, when he was charged with 36 counts of indecent assaults against nine boys under aged 18 in the 1970s and early 1980s.

He is now on conditional police bail until January 7th 2016, when he is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court.

The charges relate to alleged offences at the former Salerno Road children's home in Southampton. This home closed in 2013.

This investigation does not involve alleged offences at any other children's homes or institutions.
