Sewage dumping lands driver with £11,000 fines and compensation

A man who dumped two tanker loads of sewage waste in Carterton has been ordered to pay more than £11,000 in fines and compensation.

Michael Ridgway of Hinstock near Market Drayton, Shropshire, was prosecuted by West Oxfordshire District Council in its biggest ever fly-tipping prosecution.

The sewage waste was discovered on in September last year flowing underneath portable buildings at the construction compound within the West Oxfordshire Business and Retail Park.

Using local CCTV systems, council officers identified the registration number of the only vehicle capable of carrying the effluent that had visited the business park over the weekend.
