Man jailed following pub assault

A man from Barton in Oxfordshire has been sentenced to six years in prison for assaulting two people at a pub.

36-year-old Tim McDonagh of Bernwood Road was convicted for one count of GBH with intent and one count of common assault. He was found guilty by unanimous jury.

The victims who were 19 and 20 at the time, were at the White Horse public house in London Road in Oxford, on the evening of 1st of March when one was head butted and the other had a bottle smashed on his head.

McDonagh was arrested on Sunday 1 March 2015 and charged on Friday 22 May 2015.

“McDonagh was convicted of two violent attacks upon students who were just trying to enjoy an evening in the pub with friends.

“I hope that the sentence given shows that violent behaviour will not be tolerated.”
