Boy's body found after search in River Thames

A body has been recovered from the River Thames near Culham. It is believed to be that of Ellis Downes, 16, from Harwell.

Flowers have been placed at the spot beside the River Thames where Ellis Downes drowned.

The Thames Valley Police force has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission regarding the way it carried out the recovery operation to find the teenager.

Ellis, 16, was last seen swimming in the river at Culham on the night of Saturday 7 May. The area between Abingdon Lock and Culham Lock was closed for the search operation to take place.
