Hampshire's last remaining Victorian Pier will re-open to the public next week - after a four million pound upgrade. South Parade Pier in Portsmouth fell into disrepair, was damaged by storms, and finally declared unsafe in 2012. Now new owners have spent more than four million pounds repairing the structure and refurbishing the building. They say they've secured the pier's long-term future. They hope the newly-refurbished amusement arcade will be the main draw and work continues to renovated bars, cafes, and a concert hall. Structural work is being completed and the outside decks are being resurfaced. It's hoped it will be fully open in time for the school summer holidays in August.
