History made as Flying Scotsman and Typhoon are reunited after 90 years
History has been made in East Sussex when, as part of the Bluebell Railway's 'Flying Scotsman Flying South Gala', the iconic locomotive and the RH&DR's Typhoon were reunited for the first time in 90 years.
Over 100 people came to watch, as Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway Chairman Sir William McAlpine opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate the occasion.
The "Giant and the Dwarf" - as the 1927 press and newsreels said - are back, side by side for families, enthusiasts and the world to compare.
As part of the Bluebell Railway's Flying Scotsman 7 day Gala Event both locomotives will be available for the public to see individually at Sheffield Park station over the Easter bank holidays.
