Litter louts face on-the-spot fine in Arun District
People caught dropping litter or failing to clear up after their dog could face an on the spot fine in the Arun District. It's part of a new 12 month enforcement trial similar to one running in East Hampshire. Offenders will face a maximum penalty of £1,000.
The Council will liaise with an enforcement company to target problem-areas. It says the funding will come directly from fines, rather than from Arun District Council's budget. East Hampshire District Council says the scheme run in their area has been a success with an 87% payment rate and a 99% success rate for prosecutions.
