Coach says Pistorius is improving but still 'not so good'

The coach who has helped make Oscar Pistorius the most famous paralympic athlete in the world has given ITV News an insight into his state of mind, in the run up to his latest court appearance.

The star is charged with murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp and will appear at a pre-trial hearing tomorrow.

Ampie Louw says Pistorious is "not so good" in the mornings and evenings, but he is keeping himself occupied during the day, including doing some training.

He admitted "I don't see him competing this year."

Friend: Oscar Pistorius is 'terribly humble and kind'

Mike Kendrick, a close friend of Oscar Pistorius, has described the 26-year-old as a "terribly humble man and very kind person".

In his role as head of the Mineseeker charity, Mr Kendrick has worked with Pistorius - who is the charity's ambassador - for the past ten years.

However, his decision to stand by his friend has led to death threats and "nasty emails and letters" for the Midlands based businessman.

Speaking to Daybreak he said: "I've never seen the other side of [Pistorius] that's been reported he's been a very caring, human individual, great humanity."

He added, "I'm not a judge and jury and while a lot of his sponsors have removed him, he's an ambassador for my foundation and he's done a great job".

Oscar Pistorius is currently on bail after being charged with the premeditated murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, who was shot dead at his home in Pretoria in February.
