Michael Douglas thanked his estranged wife Catherine Zeta Jones in his acceptance speech for Best Actor in a miniseries or TV movie at last night's Emmy Awards.

"I want to thank my wife Catherine for her support," the actor said as he accepted the honour for his role in Behind the Candelabra.

The 68-year-old Hollywood star and Welsh-born Zeta-Jones, 43, announced in August that they were "taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage."
