Blue Plaque

A blue plaque ceremony was held to celebrate the life of guitar legend, Hilton Valentine, at his childhood home in North Shields. 

Elsie Widdowson is classed as one of the outstanding scientists of the 20th Century. The plaque is in the village of Barrington where she lived.

The heritage plaque will be unveiled in Sunderland city centre to highlight the activism of Sunderland’s Quaker women in the 19th century.
