While bosses admitted the report was "disappointing", a local care home revealed the extra steps it takes to keep residents safe when they visit hospital.

Police said the man had not been a patient at the hospital, but it is not known if he was a staff member or visitor.

St Peter's maternity unit in Maldon, Essex, has temporarily closed with bosses saying the decision will be reviewed in two weeks.
