Temperatures will drop at night, but are not expected to fall below mid-single figures in the daytime during the chilly spell.

Airlines have cancelled around 3,000 flights, hundreds of thousands are without power and around nine people have already died.

Several centimetres of snow has fallen on higher ground to the west of the region, including Huddersfield.
