Drowning Prevention

Coastguards are warning people not to jump in after anyone struggling in the water and to instead call emergency services for help.

Emergency services were called to the River Tyne, near the Millennium Bridge in Newcastle after it was reported the teenager was in the water.

Robert Hattersley got into difficulty in water in Northumberland last summer and his family hope to educate other young people about the danger of open water.
