More than 2,400 people have died in the strongest earthquake to hit Morocco in over a century, with the death toll continuing to rise.

The quake was felt widely across the region and bookended by smaller foreshocks and aftershocks, according to the US Geological Survey.

When rescuers found Afraa she had been trapped under rubble for 10 hours, her umbilical cord was still attached to her mother, who died just after giving birth.
