Between 1964 and 1973 more than two million tonnes of bombs were dropped on the country as US warplanes.

The CIA once directed a secret war that saw American warplanes drop more bombs on Laos than they did during the Second World War.

At least 6,600 people have been made homeless in the affected area in Attapeu province.
