England claimed a 66-44 victory over Jamaica to win the bronze medal at the netball World Cup in Sydney.

Tracey Neville's side, who lost out 50-39 to New Zealand in Saturday's semi-final, finished third at the last tournament in Singapore in 2011 and matched that here despite trailing by five goals in the first quarter of this play-off.

The Roses battled back and had taken a 28-23 by the end of the first half before they eased past their opponents at the Sydney Olympic Park.

England were beaten 50-39 by New Zealand in their Netball World Cup semi-final in Sydney on Saturday.

The Silver Ferns capitalised on numerous England errors in possession to secure their place in the final and leave Tracey Neville's side facing a bronze medal play-off against Jamaica.

New Zealand will seek a first world title since 2003 when they take on hosts Australia in the final.
