De Niro predicts abusive Trump tweets at New York rally

Robert De Niro hit out at Donald Trump's celebrity Twitter spats by predicting the abuse he would receive for appearing at a celebrity-led rally against the US president-elect in New York.

The actor, who regularly condemned Trump's presidential campaign, told a crowd of protesters: "I want to read a few tweets to you. I know you haven't heard them because they won't be sent until later - in the middle of the night."

The seven-time Academy Award winner said he expected to be condemned for a "disaster" career boosted by "rigged Oscars" and revealed which political figure Trump would consider the real "Raging Bull".

Earlier this month Trump labelled Meryl Streep "one of the most over-rated actresses" in Hollywood in a late night tweet after she criticised him at the Golden Globes.
