Engineers are inspecting the area at Wallers Ash between Basingstoke and Winchester, where all lines are blocked. Disruption is likely until the end of Tuesday.

Network Rail say a defect on a cable caused the signalling fault, but they have found a temporary fix so more trains can run throughout the rest of the day.
