Super moons affect earthly tides, with the highest tides typically arriving a day or so after a full super moon.

The pink coloured supermoon is rare and only happens when the moon closely coincides with the perigee, which is at its closest distance to earth.

It may look up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter in the sky as the moon reaches its closest point to Earth.

The pink supermoon has been visible in the sky since Monday evening, but you will still be able to see it over the next few days.
