The coins, which experts say have helped to re-write the history of the formation of the kingdom of England, are worth an estimated £766,000.

For years, there have been rumours that a Viking ship was buried underneath the Railway pub on the Wirral, so a dig has begun to see if they can uncover it.

The festival runs from Friday 2 September to Sunday 4 September at the Moorforge Viking Settlement.
