Former members of the Armed Services have been living in temporary accommodation as they wait for their homes to be made livable again following Storm Ciarán.

The Channel Islands' last remaining Normandy veteran Ernest Thorne was at a special service to mark the 80th anniversary of the historic Normandy Landings.

Sergeant McOwan served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and still vividly remembers the scene 80 years on.
