The firm launched a full recall involving 500,000 dryers in July and said 65,000 owners have come forward since then.
Last month, the Government said it would issue a recall notice for 500,000 dryers that could potentially be a fire risk.
Some 500,000 Whirlpool-made machines that present a potential fire risk are in UK homes.
Business Minister Kelly Tolhurst said consumer safety was a “Government priority”.
Hazardous Whirlpool tumble dryers have led to at least 750 fires since 2004, a House of Commons report said.
