A pregnant lioness, who went on to have three cubs, was left in a private zoo as Russian forces poured into Ukraine.

Simba was one of 13 lions rescued from a dilapidated zoo in Romania in 2009. He was the last male lion at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park has welcomed its first ever sea lion pups, after two were born just over a week apart.
