North East stars unveil Olympic kits

Sunderland striker Fraizer Campbell and swimmer Jo Jackson were among the athletes who unveiled Team GB's kits for this summer's Olympic Games.

The event, at the Tower of London, had around 30 athletes from various sports wearing the team clothing, which has been created by fashion designer Stella McCartney.

Campbell, who was modelling the Great Britain football strip, is hoping to be one of three players selected for the squad who is over the age of 22.

The 24-year-old said: "[The kit] is great. It feels great, and hopefully we can give it that extra feel-good factor in the Olympics.

"Everyone watches the Olympics. I know I do. So it's great that it's in our back garden. Hopefully a lot of people can try and get down and watch as many events as possible."

Jackson, from Northallerton in North Yorkshire, was showing off the GB swimming kit.

The 25-year-old said: "It was a bit nerve wracking, but it was so exciting to be a part of something so special. It's amazing.

"The atmosphere in there was absolutely fantastic, and just to be a part of the whole experience and getting ready for the Olympics - it's definitely a good build-up for it and it makes you get more excited about the Olympic Games."
