Newcastle Eagles on course for basketball's Grand Slam
The Newcastle Eagles coach Fabulous Flourney says it's a case of "two down, two to go" for his team after they won the British Basketball League trophy on Friday.
The victory over Plymouth Raiders means the Eagles are on course to complete British basketball's Grand Slam. They had already won the BBL Cup this season, they remain on course to win the league and they are the favourites to take the play-off title.
They went into the second leg of the Trophy final on Friday trailing the Plymouth Raiders by 9 points, but produced a stirring comeback in front of a passionate crowd at Sports Central. The result on the night was 96 - 80, to complete an aggregate victory.
Fab Flourney says it feels great to win in front of a home crowd, and thanked the fans for their support.
