The Morpeth Harrier achieved her dream of reaching the final, racing in front of a crowd of 80,000 at the Olympic Park in East London.

She had already recorded a personal best time of 04:02.99 in the semi-final on Wednesday.

Speaking on BBC Sport after the final event, the 21 year old runner from Alnwick thanked her supporters and her coach, Steve Cram, and said the crowd at the Olympic Park "were brilliant".

Already looking ahead, Laura added, "I really believe there's a lot more from me in the future, and this is a good platform to push me on now."
