She surprised everyone when she reached the final of the 1500 metres at the Olympic games in London.

Today Alnwick athlete Laura Weightman, who trains at Hexham, was back on the track and preparing for her next challenge.

Laura, who is coached by former Olympic athlete and broadcaster Steve Cram, recorded a personal best to reach the final and says the whole Olympic experience has made her a better athlete.

Since the London games she has already competed in a Diamond league event in Stockholm and is now preparing for races in Birmingham and Zurich.

"It was absolutely incredible feeling walking out on to that track in your tracksuit, every time the crowd saw a GB tracksuit or vest they just roared and it was unbelievable when you stood on that start line and announced you to the crowd I don't think i've got the words to described the feeling"
