From Northumberland to North Yorkshire, buildings have been evacuated, businesses have been forced to close and people are still clearing up.

Residents in Morpeth and Rothbury, in Northumberland, have been cleaning up after almost a hundred homes were flooded or evacuated. It's again raised questions about how quickly new flood defences are being put in place.

In Newcastle there has been even more flooding with the emergency services at full stretch.

In Newburn, on the Western outskirts of Newcastle, an entire block of flats is on the verge of collapse and 50 homes have been evacuated.

On Teesside, there have been problems on the roads. Long stretches of the A1 are still closed and that caused tailbacks for miles along the A19. For many, whose homes and businesses were hit by floods, the recovery is only just beginning.

In North Yorkshire, several people have been rescued from their homes as flood warnings remain in place. Fire crews were called to a converted mill at Topcliffe near Thirsk as river levels rose.
