Schools are being encouraged to take part in a new competition to encourage an interest among their pupils in technology.

The TeenTech awards have 11 core categories including transport, healthcare and communications. The overall winners will be invited to visit Buckingham Palace.

Entries have to be registered by 14th December 2012 and schools then have until next March to submit their projects. There's more information on the TeenTech website

One of the competition's co-founders Maggie Philbin - a former Tomorrow's World presenter - visited King Edward V1 High School in Morpeth to see some of the projects being undertaken there.
