Sunderland have announced the signing of Senegal international Kader Mangane on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old defender joins the Black Cats from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, and becomes Martin O'Neill's second January signing after midfielder Alfred N'Diaye arrived at the club last week.

Sunderland boss O'Neill said:

"Kader is player who will add to the overall strength of our squad and give us options. He will improve competition for places and we are delighted to welcome him to the club."

Mangane spent six years in Switzerland before playing for both Lens and Rennes in Ligue 1. He moved to Al Hilal in July 2012.
