Police looking for a man missing from Northumberland have released new information in the search for him.

Concern was raised for Kilian Wolfgang Ruthlein, 26, from Darmstadt in Germany, on October 16, when police received a call from a member of the public who had found clothing belonging to Kilian next to Kielder reservoir.

Reports also came in from someone claiming a man who looked like Kilian was staying at the Greenhead Hotel, Greenhead, on October 21. Potential witnesses say the man looked similar to the photos police released of Kilian and spoke with a foreign accent, giving the name of Davidson.

Officers have been joined by the Marine Unit, Forestry Commission, Northumbria Water and Search and Rescue to conduct extensive searches of the reservoir and surrounding areas. Police have spoken to Kilian's family.

"We now have new information to release which may spark the memory of people who were staying in or around Kielder in the days after Kilian's disappearance. "We are working closely with Kilian's family to keep them updated of our progress and they are understandably distressed and desperate to know where Kilian is."
