Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision near Malton

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision which occurred on the A64 at Low Moorgate, Rillington.

The collision occurred at 2.10pm on Sunday February 7 and involved four vehicles: a silver Citroen Berlingo, a blue Peugeot 206, a black Mazda and a grey Mini Cooper.

Sadly the driver of the Citroen Berlingo, an 87-year-old local man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 63-year-old woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to Scarborough District Hospital for treatment.

The other two drivers were uninjured.

Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling from Rillington towards Scarborough at the time, who may have witnessed the collision or seen the vehicles prior to the incident, to contact them on 101 and select option 1 and speak to the Force Control Room.

This section of the A64 currently remains closed and is expected to open later this evening.
