The sports journalist and television presenter Jeff Stelling, who is from Hartlepool, has embarked on a gruelling challenge to raise awareness of prostate cancer. The well-known TV personality says he will walk ten marathons in ten days.
He told ITV News Tyne Tees that the 260 mile journey will take in more than 30 football clubs, all of which are supporting his efforts to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Day one sees the walkers set off from Hartlepool United, pass Middlesbrough FC and end at Marske. Those taking part include Alistair Campbell, Craig Hignett and Ray Wilkins.
Jeff was in high spirits before the challenge began, taking time to make a quick joke in front of waiting cameras!
The football show presenter said he charity is important and that the support he has received is overwhelming.
